Girl on the Moon is on a mission to combine craft + sustainability. Creating a genuine way to connect to fashion through crochet.
GOTM takes great care in sourcing only the best quality, vegan-friendly, Pima Cotton. Our cotton comes from Peru, where we support local farmers who grow using organic methods. This means significantly less water is used than with conventional cotton & there are no pesticides or GMOs. Our yarn is sourced from suppliers who adhere to European & American ethical standards.
Each style has been designed, sampled, measured and tested to ensure the best fit. Please refer to our size chart or email us if you have any queries.
ETHICS & ECO
You can rest assured that your GOTM purchase has been made ethically. No big factories or mass production lines here. Each piece is hand-crocheted by the founder, Alison Durning and we only use yarn & packaging suppliers who work in line with our ethical & sustainable ethos. It it a top priority at GOTM to have as little and as positive impact on the environment as possible. With our made-to-order business model, no waste is created in production, we ship using 100% compostable mailers with carbon neutral off-sets & use recycled materials for all of our packaging.
Alongside our own crochet work - we wish to bring to light some of the beautiful, handcrafted textiles found while travelling. The first example of this is a collection of textiles we have available from Peru. We've partnered with a group of talented artisans in Ayacucho, Peru. They create stunning table runners and pillow covers for GOTM. Each piece is 100% handmade by the artisans, taking anywhere from 3-10 days to create. All of the embroidered pieces are created in the homes of women who are able to embroider throughout the day, while caring for their children, homes, and livestock.
By collaborating with communities such as these, Girl on the Moon aims to empower women by valuing their skills and time they put into creating beautiful products that can be treasured for a lifetime.
